International Students' Folk Festival as one of the 300 world folklore events, for many years has a permanent place in the calendar CIOFF (International Council of Folklore Festivals and organizers of the Traditional Arts, acting under the auspices of UNESCO), but the only one prepared by the academic community.

ISFF has been held since 1979, and its host is always the Silesian University Students' Song and Dance Ensemble "Katowice". ISFF gathers interest of people in the region with open-air performances, colorful processions through the streets of cities, and performances on professional scenes in theaters and cultural centers.

During the long history of ISFF our region visited over 230 ensambles, including groups of artists from Indonesia, Cyprus, Macedonia, Hungary, Mexico, India, Kenya and Malaysia. During this year's edition the ISFF will present ensambles from Ukraina, Mexico, Germany, Bulgaria, Spain, Slovenia, Armenia, and the Czech Republic. Colorful processions and folk concerts will be streamed in Siemianowice Slaskie, Zory, Katowice, Cieszyn, Sosnowiec, Koszęcin and Chorzow.
